A feature introduced in Tango 2000 is the ability to work with objects: JavaBeans, COM objects and Tango's own objects, Tango Class Files. By using objects you can extend the power and abilities of your Tango application to suit your specific needs. The Editor takes care of the object details, showing you the Object's methods, parameters and attributes. Once again, you don't need to know object programming to use objects within Tango and gain the power that objects can provide.
The Tango Application Server (the AppServer) works with your Web server to execute Tango application files and return dynamically generated HTML to the Web browser. The AppServer acts as a middle layer between the Web server, browser and databases to take the logic in your Tango application and turn it into the information that visitors to your Web site request. It works with popular Web servers like Apache, Microsoft IIS, Netscape and WebStar (and any W*API-compliant server).
The Tango Web Analyzer (see Figure 2) is a Web site traffic analysis tool that performs real-time data collecting, summarizing and reporting.
Figure 2: The Tango Web Analyzer
Using the Web Analyzer, you can monitor your Web transactions as they happen to gain a better understanding of how your Web site users are using your site. The Web Analyzer stores all of the information in a relational database system. Besides real-time data viewing, it can create hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly summaries of the data collected. The more you know, the better you can hone your site to meet the needs of your customers.
In addition to the three main components, Tango 2000 offers complete solutions right out of the box. No wimpy and worthless "samples" here! You get a complete shopping basket Tango application - just insert your business specifics and off you go. Other full-featured samples and templates for additional Tango applications are included to help you get started quickly. You also get a powerful SQL database (Pervasive.SQL on Windows, Butler SQL on Mac OS) and ODBC drivers to get you connected and database-powered.
