What Is Tango 2000?
Tango 2000 empowers you with the freedom to easily create Web-based applications for everyone, everywhere. Hosted on Mac OS, Windows, Linux and Solaris, Tango allows you to create dynamic, intelligent Web sites integrated with popular database systems (Pervasive.SQL, ODBC, FileMaker, Oracle). Using an intuitive graphical interface (point-and-click, drag-and-drop), you can create Web applications in minutes without ever having to write any code (no need to know Java or Perl) or even HTML. Advanced users can leverage their knowledge of Java, JavaScript, HTML, SQL and platform-specific programming to expand and customize the look, feel and overall logic flow of your Web application. In other words, Tango is simple enough for anyone to use, but can also satisfy the needs of the biggest power geeks.

Tango 2000 consists of three main components: the Tango Editor (see Figure 1), the Tango Application Server and the Tango Web Analyzer. The Editor - the development environment in which you create your Web applications - supports both Mac OS and Windows platforms. Note that screen shots of the Editor in this article were taken from both Windows and Mac OS versions to show the versatility of the product.

Having a graphical interface to create your Web applications facilitates the development process. It's more intuitive, it's easier to edit and navigate, and it gets you up and running faster. The Editor also interacts with database definitions, allowing you full control over what columns/tables from your data sources are used and how they're used. The database interactions are all drag-and-drop - you don't need to know SQL or other database specifics, although you certainly can use this knowledge if you have it.
